The incident took place in Fairfield County on Tuesday, June 2, when a Wilton Poice officer spotted the woman driving a 2011 Subaru Legacy on Danbury Road.

While watching the vehicle drive southbound, the officer noticed that the vehicle failed to stay in its lane of travel, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk.

The officer stopped the vehicle that was being driven by Katie L. Mallon, of Thomaston, in Litchfield County.

While speaking with Mallon, the officer noticed she was allegedly slurring her speech, and her eyes were glassy, Kluk said.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a partially emptied vodka "nip" bottle, and a 12 ounce White Claw hard seltzer.

A field sobriety test was administered, which she allegedly could not perform to standard and she refused to take a breath test, police said.

Mallon was arrested and charged with:

  • Drinking while driving
  • Failure to drive in the proper lane
  • Operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol

She was released on a written promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 22.
